Agency Consultant
EC has more than 30 years of experience as the Agency Consultant to the NJ Department of Corrections. As the Agency Consultant, EC has provided timely on-call response to environmental and industrial hygiene concerns. EC has also developed Asbestos Management Plans for the Correctional Facilities, providing us with a strong familiarity with the Department’s many buildings. In addition we have completed numerous DPMC projects as an A/E team member.

Fire Detection and Suppression Study, Mountainview Youth Correctional Facility, Clinton, Hunterdon County, NJ.
The project was initiated to address fire code violations in 11 buildings on the campus. EC referred the Asbestos Management Plan for the facility developed by EC, to minimize sampling costs during the hazardous material assessment. EC’s work product included the abatement actions necessary to facilitate the safety upgrades, and associated abatement estimates.

Fire Safety Study, Garden State Youth Correctional Facility, Chesterfield, Burlington County, NJ.
This project involved the study of fire safety issues throughout the facility, and development of mitigation approaches with cost estimates. EC referred to the Asbestos Management Plan for the facility developed by EC, to minimize sampling costs during the hazardous material assessment. EC’s work product included the abatement actions necessary to facilitate the facility-wide safety upgrades, and associated abatement estimates.

New Security Video System, Edna Mahan Correctional Facility, Clinton, NJ
Prior to performing the assessment of 16 buildings for hazardous materials, EC reviewed the extensive records for the facility, for incorporation of previous testing into the assessment report, where feasible. EC then performed the assessment in each building, coordinating with Architect of Record and the Department of Corrections to avoid impact to operations and comply with all security requirements. Analytical data, interpretation of results and the recommendations for abatement only as needed to enable the security video system, were provided in EC’s clear and comprehensive report. Based on the results of the assessment, EC provided technical specifications for abatement where required to facilitate the overall project, and the associated Construction Cost Estimate.
